to all the mothers in my life--daughters, daughters-in-law, my sister and sisters-in-law, as well as relatives and friends who have been my mentors the past 50 years.

At the close of this special day, I feel so blessed. We have peace and love in our apartment where the Church takes care of our physical needs while we serve this mission in Mérida. The necessities of life are ours as promised to those who are tithed. Our health is good and allows us to do what is required at the Temple. This morning we enjoyed Heavenly Father's beautiful world as we walked under the palm trees and by the gorgeous bougainvillea in the bright sunshine to services with Mulsay Ward in the new Stake Center.
The Sunday School lesson on the Law of Consecration included the quote "The errors of the parents become the vices of the children."

After meetings we opened Mothers' Day e-cards and received phone calls from our children and their families which gladdened our hearts. We could visualize the sweet things the little children did for their mothers, as well as the effort it is for mothers to allow pre-teens and teens to become independent within the family guidelines, and we gave thanks for the good things they are doing in their lives.

There were lingering traces of the "swine flu scare," for we all got a squirt of antibacterial gel on our hands as we entered the chapel area. In Relief Society the leaders congratulated the sisters who had stored food and been prepared before the government encouraged self-quarantine. I was reminded that this is a different part of the world, because the women are now preparing for hurricane season by storing at least a month's supply.
