Where does one start to talk to young people about gaining "Confidence to Marry"?
That was our concern after Presidente Schill received an invitation from the Young Single Adults of the Mérida-Lakín stake to give a fireside on Dec. 21. We knew that if we could blend our very different styles of preparing and presenting and keep a positive attitude, we would receive guidance from the Spirit, so for over a week we worked with that goal in mind. We searched the scriptures, read talks from Church leaders such as Pres. Packer, Elder Nelson, Elder Oaks, Pres. Eyring, found suggestions on Internet sites, and asked our family and temple workers for ideas; each evening we would add more information to the PowerPoint presentation and illustrate the slides. This time we knew how to work the projector, so that was not a problem.
The final product began with Heavenly Father's plan for the happiness of His children that includes temple ordinances necessary for exaltation as a family;
Gerhard's famous advice to his students "Hay que sudar la gota gorda ahora," led into a discussion of preparation to receive those ordinances;
we could bear testimony from our own lives of guidance from the Holy Ghost as we live our lives in faith and obedience.

A girl came up to say goodbye and thank us for giving her "just what she needed," and since then Gerhard has had leaders thank him, too.

To keep us from getting a swelled head, the laptop had problems and would shut off if I bumped the table it was on, then at the close we had a "first¨when we locked the keys in the car while we were putting away all the equipment. Sister Smith and I waited at Sister Cetina's home nearby while Pres. Cetina and the men worked and finally called a member who is a locksmith to get the car open.
Our prayers that night were heartfelt thanks for the guidance we had received before, during and after the fireside.
