This is Elder Victor and Sister Elsa.
The Verlindens have come to Mérida to serve in the Temple. They are an unusual couple who are devoted to doing the Lord's work.
April 15, 2009, they arrived in Mérida coming from Santo Domingo, where they have been temple missionaries for seventeen of their twenty-four month mission call. They are in the process of becoming Mexican citizens, so they will finish their last seven months at this Temple.

Sister Verlinden was born in Switzerland, Brother Verlinden in Belgium; they speak to each other in French, but they also know English and Spanish. They have previously served in the Swiss Temple, the Frieberg Germany Temple, the San Diego Temple and the Hermosillo Temple before their mission to the Santo Domingo Temple. In Santo Domingo, they were able to use French to help patrons coming from Haiti. Last Thursday, a young woman came in who had learned French as a child, so it was a treat for both of them to be able to converse in French.

The Verlinden's son is a bishop in Tijuana, and they will return to their home there because as Sister Elsa says, they "love Mexico more than any other country they have lived in."
