Monday Feb. 22, Bro. Smith had an idea to get together, since he had a music video that wouldn't play on his computer and we have a new DVD player for the apartment. Everyone was invited to come over after the temple cleaning was finished, but Bro. Richards was just getting over a very bad cold, so he went home and went to bed, Bro. Dyer had sprained his ankle and was soaking it, Sis. Dyer had cut and colored her hair, so we were only 7 to enjoy the music. We had a good time and it would be fun to do again :)

Our first formal Home Evening began with a prayer by Brother Smith, who asked for a short prayer. We were hungry, so had the refreshments first--a macaroni salad and a three-bean salad, cream cheese with raspberry chipotle sauce, a new strawberry Tang, and then ate cookies while we watched Linda Ronstadt sing well-known Mexican romantic and folk songs at the San Franscisco Orpheum theater in 1992. The program was "My Father's Songs" (Canciones de Mi Padre) and the costuming and choreography were excellent. Among others, she sang Por un Amor, Los Laureles, Hay Unos Ojos, La Cigarra, Tu Solo Tu, Y Andale,
Rogaciano del Huapanguero, La Charreada, Dos Arbolitos, Corrido de Cananea, La Barca de Guaymas, La Calandria, El Sol Que Tu Eres.
The program became very personal as Sis. Soto sang along with the music. She told us that her mother had a very good voice and she had learned the songs as a child.
One of the mariachi group is a not-too-distant relative of Sis. Sánchez, so she was very attentive, also. Gerhard provided the comedy as he sang along and did some background "Viva Chihuahua."
