David surprised us by sending Gerhard's Priesthood line of authority that he had updated in preparation for a talk Tyler was to give on the 5th Article of Faith. We were impressed that he had taken the time to improve the old copy and made the effort to look up the pictures to give it a new look.

Jesus ordained his Apostles.

. “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” John 15:16

Peter, James, and John ordained Joseph Smith Jr. and Oliver Cowdery to the Melchizedek priesthood on an unknown date in 1829.

In Section 27 (August 1830), the Lord refers to the restoration of the Melchizedek Priesthood as something which had already taken place. He speaks of “Peter, and James, and John, whom I have sent unto you, by whom I have ordained you and confirmed you to be apostles, and especial witnesses of my name, and bear the keys of your ministry and of the same things which I revealed unto them” (D&C 27:12)

Three Witnesses were called by revelation to choose the Twelve Apostles and on February 14, 1835 were “blessed by the laying on of hands of the Presidency,” who were Joseph Smith Jr.,

Sidney Rigdon,

and Frederick G. Williams.

Joseph Smith Jr. ordained Lyman Wight

who ordained Sidney Rigdon and Martin Harris. Oliver Cowdery ordained David Whitmer. Joseph and Oliver ordained Frederick G. Williams together. These men became part of one of two groups, either the Three Witnesses or the First Presidency.

Oliver Cowdery was ordained to the Melchizedek Priesthood by Peter, James, and John in 1829. On June 3, 1831, at a conference at the headquarters of the church in Kirtland, Ohio, Martin Harris was ordained to the office of High Priest. David Whitmer was ordained a High Priest by Oliver Cowdery on 25 October 1831.

Lyman E. Johnson, Orson Hyde, William E. M’Lellin, William Smith, Brigham Young, David W. Patten, John F. Boynton, Thomas P. Marsh, Heber C. Kimball, Luke S. Johnson, Orson Pratt, Parley P. Pratt

Brigham Young was ordained an Apostle February 14, 1835 under the hands of the Three Witnesses.

George Q Cannon was ordained an Apostle August 26, 1860 by Brigham Young.

Heber J. Grant was ordained an Apostle October 16, 1882 by George Q. Cannon

Charles A. Callis was ordained an Apostle October 12, 1933 by Heber J. Grant

.Junius E. Driggs was ordained a High Priest November 25, 1934 by Charles A. Callis

Gerhard D. Schill (el guapo) was ordained a High Priest November 24, 1968 by Junius E. Driggs.
