As the 21st century moves along with discoveries in medicine and technology, we went back in time to cure Gerhard's gripa.
Elder Smith came down first with a very bad cold and cough, so our nurse-in-residence, Sis. Oropeza came to their door with a cupful of a remedy that her mother had used with great success and a sweatshirt, because "You are really going to sweat!" She was right, but in two days he was feeling almost like himself.
Gerhard worked almost 10-hour days while the temple was closed for maintenance, going over by 7:00 in the morning and staying until 4:00 P.M. or later. He was also making arrangements to pay property taxes, renew license plates and other business online or with the help of Bro. Saenz so he had projects at home until much later than he should have done.
Gradually his body wore down until on January 22, he admitted that he had developed the aches, fever, and cough of the gripa that we had been warned about. Others who have had the flu are sick for two or three weeks, but Gerhard couldn't have that luxury.
We took Sister Oropeza's advice and mixed him the brew.

For anyone who is adventurous and would like to try the recipe:
Boil together 4 cloves of garlic, minced and mashed; a cup of milk; a handful of bouganvilla flowers and a stick of cinnamon. Strain and add the finishing touch--a couple spoonfuls of nature's remedy for many ailments. Drink as hot as possible, then go to bed and sweat out the bad germs. For the next couple of days, no one will come near you, so you will not pass on the flu bug.
