Tonight we are in the
estado grande of Chihuahua -- Delicias, to be exact.

Today's scenery featured miles of red dirt; harvest time in the bean fields interspersed with
chile gathering; and even one sign that warned drivers not to sleep through the monotonous desert and mountain stretches.

We arrived home about 1:30 PM.

Sis. Sáenz was cleaning outside and greeted us warmly. She had swept out the living room and kitchen and put a flower on the table. It looked like home. We unloaded the car much more quickly than it had been loaded. There will be time to put things away and organize, but first we will clean thoroughly. Our house needs both a Daddy and a Mama.

The first business was to call the gas company and have them fill our tank so we could heat the house.
The next thing was to take pictures around the house and enjoy the autumn foliage. There hasn't been a hard frost, so the pecans haven't fallen.

The pyracantha has grown as tall as the house, almost.

Even the geraniums still look pretty. Gerhard is happy to have a change of seasons again.

We used the cell phone to call Elena and Katherine and ask them to be our helpers and send a message out to the family that we were home safely. It might be 3 or 4 days until we can get phone service and internet hooked up for our place.
Sunday when we went to church, the program had "Welcome home, Schills."

Bishop Robinson announced that we would be speaking next Sunday, so we visited with the Stake President, Kelly Jones, with the Bishop, and gave our mission report as assigned.

At home.
End of a chapter in our lives.
The beginning of another chapter, since as long as we live there will be new adventures.
