It's a fact! The stake center next to the temple is open!
It is a beautiful building that will be home to the Centro stake officers, Centro, Mulsay and Kanek wards, as well as the Institute program.


Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 we attended the 8:00 A.M. meeting of the Kanek Ward. When we walked in, we felt we had been transported to the United States, when we saw the dark wood paneling, the wall-to-wall carpeting, the cushioned benches and the comfortable choir seating. Before the meeting started, members were seated in the overflow chairs in the cultural hall. It looked like Dublán Stake conference.
As we were getting out of our 3-hr. block meetings, the Mulsay Ward was coming out of their Sacrament meeting. We went back to take pictures, and saw the Centro Ward members just going in. That was a neat way to meet lots of friends in just a short time.
Alicia Acosta, nicknamed the "guardian of the temple" by Pres. Dyer for her role in defusing incidents last year on a couple of occasions when individuals tried to enter the temple without recommends.
The design allows for indoor and well as outdoor settings for activities. The classrooms are small for a ward the size of Kanek, where there was standing room only in Sunday School and Relief Society meetings, but the bishop hopes that the ward can soon be divided.
