From our journal August 10-17,2008
The week began with practice on the new recording system Monday and Tuesday morning we were on our own. This is the system that sends names immediately to Salt Lake to be available in all the temples. It is easier in many ways, but increases the need for accuracy. We have to have a witness for each ordinance that we record to reduce the chance of slip-ups.
The temple ended the "season" with a big day. We opened at 4 AM to be ready for a bus load that came at 5:00 AM for an excursion from Tizimín, and we had new endowments, family names, 5 good sessions, baptisms and sealings. My favorite part was being able to help a sister who was being sealed to her husband and see how becoming an eternal family was so important to her. She has 3 children who couldn't be sealed to them yet, because she doesn't have all the necessary documentation. We ended the day at 11:00 PM after taking down sacred items and decorations to get ready for the cleaning and refurbishing that will be done the next two weeks.
It is wonderful to be blessed with health to do this great work, and to love the people we work with. We still chuckle when people tell us, "Your Spanish is so good," and we can say " We're really Mexicans, we're from Chihuahua." Who would have thought 43 years ago when we arrived in Col. Dublán that we would ever be in Mérida? The Lord has been so good to us.
