No, it isn't Christmas, yet, even though the stores have had Christmas displays since before Halloween. This is Thanksgiving Day, 2009 and we celebrated it with part of our missionary and Temple family.
We didn't want to just sit around the house and wait for the phone to ring, we didn't want to cook a big dinner and have to clean it up, and football games are not our big thing, either. We chose to go to Progreso and eat seafood cooked by experts and enjoy the atmosphere.
Clockwise, the missionary sisters, Flor Soto and Luz Sanchez, Pres. and Sis. Oropeza, Elder Smith and Sister Smith, Sister Marial and Elder Dale Mortenson (Institute missionaries) at La Mojarra Blanca. It looked like a hole in the wall, but it was recommended as the best place to eat in Progreso.
Pres. Oropeza's hair curled from the early rain, the wind along the malecón, and the wave that washed over them as they were at the beach.
Elder Smith really worked to peel all the shrimp that were in his soup.
I had fillet of fish lightly breaded and stuffed with cheese and shrimp, accompanied by black beans, rice and salad.
The repujada decoration was done by the owners' daughter.
Happy us!
P.S. The funny stuff was not all on the Smiths' end of the table. The boys had fun taking pictures of each other.
