The first weekend of the month we listened to counsel, both practical and inspirational, from the prophets in General Conference.
We also purchased our copies of the new edition of the Bible and will be using it for studying in Sunday School classes for the next two years.
The last week of the month we enjoyed visits from two of our Area Presidency,

Pres. Daniel Johnson (yes, from Col. Juárez) and
his first counselor, Benjamin de Hoyos.

They came to visit the presidents of the stakes and mission, and the Temple presidency. Their message was encouragement for the leaders to find ways to strengthen families and individuals and with specific counsel for our responsibilities.

Pres. deHoyos had dinner with us in the Dyer's apartment.
Pres. Johnson had promised the Verlindens that when he came to Mérida he would see them, so they were happy to be working at the special session that was held with the stake leaders. I was very pleased that his wife, LeeAnn, was also present. She reported that Sis. Rita Johnson is still able to go to each temple session and that her daughter JoAnn is now a temple worker in the Col. Juárez Temple.
Sis. Smith commented after the session that the higher a person rises in leadership in the Church, the more they are able to communicate genuine love for people, and we felt this with our Area Presidency.
