The Mortensons came to Smiths' apartment and we four couples left to meet the Verlindens downtown and go on the bus. Plans worked out with only one scare when Bro. Verlinden wandered off and wasn't anywhere to be seen when the bus arrived. We got on, Sis. Verlinden yelled that he was coming, and the bus driver waited for them to board.
About 4:30, after riding through new territory for half an hour on Calle 50 (50th Street) we arrived at the fairgrounds and paid the entrance fee. Bro. Verlinden wandered off before we took a picture, but he came back again
.
One of the attractions this year was SNOW. There was a place for children to have a snowball fight and build a snowman--something that they never would be able to do here in real life.
We wandered around, taking in the many sights and stopping at buildings and shops that caught our fancy.

Sis. Oropeza came to tell us of a shop that had a little nacimiento. They were selling articles from Peru and this was very cute, so we got it. Later we saw another nacimiento, this one representing a Mayan home with the figures made from corn leaves. It was lit with a small light bulb and had such a cozy feeling that we bought it, too.
Before boarding the bus and returning home, we stopped to take pictures with the "Tin Man." Gerhard thought it was a robot, so he went up close to see for himself. Was he ever surprised when the tin man spoke to him :)
