Fiestas are big in Mérida! The stakes really went all out to provide entertainment for the members, their families and guests. We attended the 16th of September program (on the 17th) in Centro Stake Center.
The program began with the mariachis playing favorite songs.

Just before the women threw their pineapples at the audience. Pres. Dyer used his latent football skills to avoid getting one in his face :)
The dancers, little children --and the parents-- enjoyed dressing up for a special evening.
It was a chance to wear my terno and feel like a mestiza.
It was especially entertaining to recognize some of our temple workers and friends in the presentations.

We were very happy to see Victor and Alicia. They came up to show us their baby, Pedro, after the program. They were one of the first couples Gerhard sealed and we have always felt a special affection for them and loved to see them come to the temple before their baby was born.


After the activity everyone takes a half dozen chairs and stacks them up so that it will be easy to clean the cultural hall for the next day's Sunday services.

In fact, heroes are good propaganda all over Mexico!
