As part of the Capacitación (Training) of Family History Directors, High Council leaders, and indexing volunteers in the Temple District, Mauricio and Mayte González invited us to give a presentation on RootsMagic, a program we have used for a year and find very helpful for showing the information on family members that we have gathered on newFamilySearch.
It was very satisfying to finish, as much as now possible, the proving of the family groups and the ordinances on both the Draper-West and the Packham-Hickenlooper genealogy work that my parents left. And then to find a way to show those family relationships in a fan chart, using the information on newFamilySearch and my.trees.com was thrilling. Gerhard took me to several places to find one that would print the chart in colors so we could show it at the Capacitación. He will be able to make one for his mother's side of the family, since he has been able to go back the nine generations that the chart will show.
