This is a special year in México--the 200th anniversary of the Revolución. In late August we went grocery shopping at Chedraui, and saw that decorations were being hung for the 16th of September holiday.
We came home with a commemorative banner to decorate our apartment as true patriots! Heroes of the Revolution, Hidalgo, Morelos, Josefa and Allende (we asked several people who they were and got different answers each time), were our guests for a month.

As a Church family we celebrated the 16th of September with the Galváns at the Employment Center. Originally they thought of having pozole which is typical food for the holiday, but Sis. Galván can't eat that. Sister Vidal, the new missionary sister, volunteered to make salpicón ,
served with tortillas that is a traditional dish in her home state of Sonora.

She and Sister Soto also made the beans and pickled red onions to accompany it and a coconut mousse. We brought the red, white and green ribbon Jello that Jean Call showed us in Dublán, and Sis. Richards made her 3-minute microwave brownies. When we put everything together, it was a festive meal.


Reyna, Dani and Bro. Patrón from the Distribution Center came until Dani had to take her nap.
Wili Acosta became our photographer; he is the Galván's nephew and has been our chauffeur, the sisters' tourist guide and is a temple worker besides going to school to become a pilot
